The people tell the story of a victorious popular uprising, centered on a single hero. In 1960, facing militarized repression, the Algerian working classes—sometimes with women and children on the front lines—arose from slums and segregated neighborhoods. They thwarted the counter‑insurgency and overturned the colonial order. This is also the tale of oppressed bodies freeing themselves through dance.
